In the steel industry, smart digital services such as remote support, remote monitoring, or remote commissioning are already widely used. These solutions improve the flexibility during project execution, reduce unproductive times, and enable experts from all over the world to connect. But what about fixing electrical or mechanical problems? This webinar provides an overview of existing solutions and presents the requirements for such applications — both for a steel producer and an external solutions partner. The speakers will differentiate for which applications the use of something such as smart glasses makes sense and discuss possible hurdles to overcome. Additionally, participants can experience a live demonstration of smart glasses "in action".

Jens Riedel

Head of Service and Modernization Downstream, Primetals Technologies ● Jens Riedel has more than 25 years experience in commissioning process automation systems as well as managing support and services for steel industry. He has managed big international service and modernization projects in USA, Europa and Asia, and he was co-creator of the Primetals Technologies support center in China. In this webinar, Jens will share his sound experience, how solutions offering remote assistance in a steel plant have developed over time and what challenges exist.

Martin Mucha

Head of Service E&A, Primetals Technologies ● Martin Mucha has been working for steel industry for more than 12 years. He gained international experience in the commissioning of automation systems for steel production. Since 2019, Martin is responsible for electrics and automation services at Primetals Technologies. Continuously, he is monitoring market trends, carefully listening to the needs of maintenance engineers and operators and scouting innovative solutions to assist steel producers keeping the performance of their plants on the highest possible level.

Andreas Rohrhofer

Product Manager, Primetals Technologies ● Andreas Rohrhofer originally completed his education as automation engineer. He started his career as product owner and product developer for industrial robots. For the last more than 8 years, Andreas was responsible for product development, project management and innovation management for electrics and automation for ironmaking, steelmaking and casting at Primetals Technologies. He has also commissioned several automation solutions at steel plants all over the world. Andreas is passionate about the development and application of innovative solutions for steel industry, which focus on the needs of today and tomorrow.
